It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Phillpis School Of Theology, the seminary of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and constituent seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center. We are a center of theological education situated at the intersection of three publics: the Church, the academy and society. In this context we provide a strong emphasis on the theological formation of the mind accompanied by an equally important emphasis on character and ministry formation. For us academic excellence and ministry effectiveness are inextricably linked.
We are firmly committed to the biblical and theological roots of the historic Christian faith and to the contextual and global mission of the Church. We are evangelical and ecumenical, diverse and inclusive. Our curicilum, faculty as well as our campus expand across multiple denominations and cultures.
Our educational mission is national and international in scope, urban and suburban in focus, integrative and specialized in content, residential and regional in location. We express this mission through life together as a worshipping, teaching, studying, and ministering community. We endeavor to carry out this theological mission in the spirit of the biblical mandate to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." We pray God's favorable blessings upon you as you explor many spiritual and educational facets of The Phillips School of Theology.
Yours in the Faith,
Rev. Dr. Paul Lawrence Brown, Sr.
